Don't idle your machines after a cold start. This causes extreme wear and tear. Start it, wait until it runs smoothly (max 1min) and start driving lightly. Maybe plug it in and preheat the engine coolant, we have small heating fans in the cab here in Sweden to defrost the windows and raise comfort combined in one plug.

Thats a very stand up deal your doing with the rescue equipment.. To put into perspective, most agriculture and grain storage is in smaller communities. Where most departments are on a volunteer basis and running on mills from township . So to put it straightforward my township mills are about 12000.00. Thats not alot at all when you consider vehicles, maintenance, and building maintenance. That money goes fast.

As the startup is the most wear on the engine. If I leave a tractor out in below freezing weather. Less then 1 hr plugged in let’s them start easy. I have 2 heavy duty timers. In winter I set them to start @2 hrs before I plan to need a tractor. After start, by time I put cord away it’s ready to go.
